I am currently held at Wallens Ridge State Prison At age
14 I was tried as an adult for armed robbery. I received 38
years with 20 suspended. I was sent to adult prison in
1997 to serve no less than 85% of an 18 year sentence.
This was the first time that I had ever been incarcerated,
and I feel the courts abused its discretion in sending me
to adult prison for such a long time.
The town that I am from consist of a population of 13,000
people. Being from such a small town I was unjustly made
an example of. I take responsibility for my actions as a
man now, and I am sorry for my irresponsible youth, and
those I've wronged. However, I deserve a break because
my despite my environment I've made strides to improve
myself. I have taken every program available. I've worked
when allowed a job, I've earned my G.E.D. I have really
tried to make the best of a bad situation and poor
choices. Given a second chance, I know I will succeed
despite the challenges and temptations.
I appeal to anyone with a heart and mind, to help me in
any way possible. I look forward to hearing from you.
